21C – ESL Students use Tech to Support their Learning

Technological innovations have changed language learning radically from the old-fashioned image of pupils learning lists of verbs out of textbooks. Although language teaching has a long history of using tech, dating back to the 1960s, recent developments such as social networking and easy-to-use video cameras have removed many of the limitations.  (Is technology a silver bullet for language teaching and learning?)

There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that one of the most forward thinking and innovative departments in the school is the ESL (English as a Second Language) Department.  Over the last three years, Mr. Hospedales and his team (composed of Ms. Selvakumar and Ms. Corazza) have worked really hard to integrate the use of technology in the classroom.

Christmas Is Coming - December 2015

We've got a busy two weeks ahead of us with Christmas holidays coming up next week.

The last day of of classes before the break is Friday December 18 and it is a REGULAR school day. All students are expected to be here and engaged in their classes.

This time of year also means that many assignments, CPT, and tests are occurring, and that all students should be reviewing for Exams in January (January 11-29).

For us in the ELL Department, we will host our Annual Christmas Potluck Lunch on Thursday December 17 during A and C lunch, All students should bring in a food or money contribution so we can enjoy a successful event.

As usual, keep updated on our daily activities with the #FMMELL hashtag on Twitter and our Twitter feed on the right side of this page.
