Semester 1, Week 16 - The Last week before Christmas


Our big event this week is the Annual ELL Christmas Lunch on Thursday. Please see the MIC leaders or Mr Hospedales to submit your contributions.


If you can, please come out and support the music student at the Christmas Concert on Thursday at 7pm.

Other than that, have a Wonderful Christmas and New Year with your friends and family.

Semester 1, Week 15 - Christmas is coming

With Christmas right around the corner here are a few helpful tips:




Remember our ELL Christmas Lunch is on Thursday December 18th.



There is just a few more weeks left before the Christmas break. All students are reminded to keep on top of all of their work. There is not much time left in Semester 1. When we return in January, there will only be another few weeks before Exams begin.

Semester 1, Week 13 - Talent Show This Week

We've got another week that's not packed with activities, so this means students should spend this week concentrating on keeping up with any work that they might have fallen behind in, working on CPT's, or begin reviewing for exams.

Semester 1 - Week 12

Officially it is not Winter yet, but with our first somewhat significant snowfall today, I think that we can say it is here.


In terms of big activities, this week is not jam packed. However, this means all students will need to be mindful of tests to prepare for and assignments to complete or stay ahead of before things get super busy again.

All Parents are invited to the Catholic School Council Meeting in the Library on Thursday @ 7 pm.

Semester 1, Week 11 - Remembrance Day & Parent Teacher Interviews this week

It is a very busy week here at FMM.

It is ESP Week - where we examine issues of bullying. There will be assemblies on Monday to kick off the awareness.

Tuesday - Remembrance Day. Services will be held on the PA system.





Wednesday - Pink Shirt Day


Parent Teacher Interviews will take place from 5:30 -8:30pm.



Fiday - PA Day - No classes!

Semester 1, Week 10 - Financial Literacy Week



It's Financial Literacy Week at FMM. All students should look forward to participating in activities to improve their personal financial knowledge and skills this week thanks to the Business Department.

Grade 9 Take A Kid To Work Day is this Wednesday.

Report Cards will be distributed to ALL students on Friday.

Parent Teacher Interviews will take place on Wednesday November 12.

Semester 1, Week 9 - Happy Halloween!

Welcome back!

All FMM staff were involved with Faith Day activities yesterday, and it was a remarkable experience that all will take back to the classroom to help all of the students.

Today, we got back to a quick start with some presentations this morning from Frather Emelu, and a Fire Safety Presentation in the Library.


We've got a busy week ahead with Halloween Activities organized by Student Council (during lunches), Musical rehearsals, and much more.



Students are invited to join Mr Hospedales for runs with the Cross-country Running Club every day after school, the Games Club on Wednesday in the Library, or Friday's Badminton Club in the Gym.

Semester 1, Week 8 - Awards Night this week

First of all, congratulations go out to the members (Vivian, Zain amd Andy) of our Cross-country team that competed at the YRAA Championships. All performed to their capabilities on the chilly and wet race day.
Cross-country is not over though, all are invited to join Mr. Hospedales for daily runs starting at 2:45pm. All abilities are welcome.

Semester 1, Week 7 - Muskoka Woods and Crosscountry

Welcome back!
We hope you enjoyed some well deserved rest and family time but now we are right back at it.

The Grade 9's had a wonderful time creating lifetime memories and establishing new friendships at Muskoka Woods last week.






Grade 9's also have Grade 9 Student Rep elections on Friday.

Please make sure you are caught up with all your assignments.

A reminder to Cross-country team members and volunteers. We have the YRAA Championships on Friday.
Be at school for an 8am departure.

Semester 1, Week 6 - Happy Thanksgiving!


Thanksgiving is coming up on Monday October 13th, so we wish you all have a Happy Thanksgiving with your family and friends.

This week, the Grade 9's will be making their way to Muskoka Woods for the Grade 9 Orientation. Some of our ELL teachers and students are involved with the trip so we hope to capture some pictures from the 3 days away.

Parents/Guardians should expect to see Progress Reports coming home to students at risk of achieving their credit in a particular course. Teachers we likely in contact with you prior to this but this additional report will be coming as well.

Semester 1, Week 5 - Safety Awareness Week / Markham Fair

It is Safety Awareness Week at FMM.

All students should be aware of all the safety procedures and be ready to act accordingly when drill are practiced this week.

For Grade 9 students going to Muskoka Woods. You will be visited during home room this week to get final details or to submit all of your forms and fees.

For those of you living in the Markham area, the Markham Fair runs from October 2-5. Be sure to check out this great Markham tradition.

Semester 1, Week 4 - Terry Fox Run

The big event this week......the Terry Fox Run on Wednesday.

Congratulations to all students and teachers running the event and/or contributing to the Terry Fox Foundation.

The weather looks great this week, so staying with the running theme, consider joining the Cross-country running club. Meet at 2:45 pm at the track ready to run. We run every day and all are invited to come.

Semester 1, Week 3 - Opening Liturgy

It's week 3 already at FMM and we hope you are enjoying things so far.

We invite you to get involved in the many school activities, and very soon, the McGivney International Circle will initiate some exciting activities.

Semester 1, Week 2

Construction continues here at the school but we are happy with everyone's patience as we all deal with the heat. Thank goodness its been cooler outside.

The NOW program was a huge success. Thanks to SEPYR for putting this on and Ms. Corrazza for supervising.

Semester 2, Week 19 - Student Appreciation Day plus more

It is crunch time here at FMM. As pointed out last week, the year is wrapping up and Exams start this week for some of you, and if they don't you should start preparing for them no matter when they begin.


For Grade 9's the EQAO Math Test takes place on June 10 & 11. 


Then on June 11, 20 lucky ELL's will make the trip down to the Blue Jays Game.
June 12th will mark our annual Student Appreciation Day -- It is Election Day too -- if you are voting age, make sure to get out to vote.


Make sure to check out the Grade 12 Drama show on June 11 and 13. Some of our ELL's are featured.

Formal exams start next week on Wednesday June 18.

Semester 2, Week 16 - McGivney International Circle's Heritage Day

Our big event this week here at the FMM ELL Centre is the Heritage Day - organized by the McGivney International Circle (MIC). It will be held this coming Friday May 30th during period 3.



With the support of SEPYR's Logini, the MIC will be presenting displays, presentations, games, and other activities to celebrate the vibrant cultures of our ELL Community. Food will also be shared. Mmmmmm good!

Semester 2, Week 15 - Happy Victoria Day!



We hope you had a great Victoria Day with your family and friends, but now it's back to work.

In just 4 weeks, In-class Exams begin, and Formal Exams begin the week after on June 18th.

So this is not a time to relax. It's never too late to begin studying and working hard.



Make sure to complete your assignments, CPT's, PBL's, and start reviewing for Exams if you have not done so already.

Semester 2, Week 12 - Stand Up to Cancer

It was a wonderful night last Thursday meeting all of the parents, family members, and guardians that took the time to visit us for Parent/Teacher Interviews. We appreciate your interest, support, and we will work together to serve the best interests of your children/young adults.

As we wrap up the month April, the Stand Up to Cancer Club is selling daffodil pins all week in the atrium. The daffodil pin is a symbol of strength and courage. It states that we will fight against cancer and we will win! The money raised in the sale of these pins will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.


Upcoming Events for ELL:

May 14 - Arts Night (a 10 minute performance organized by MIC).

* We are looking or anyone interested in being part of the performance. We will begin practicing during A Lunch and Friday after school.

Semester 2, Week 9 & 10 - Week 9 Recap and Holy Week

It was a busy week last week due to mid-term reports, and preparing for Holy Week this week.


It is Holy Week This week so that means there will be no classes on Friday April 18 because of Good Friday, and on Monday April 21st due to Easter Monday.

Mid-Term Reports will be distributed on Wednesday April 16.

Parent-Teacher Interviews will take place on Thursday April 24 and you can make appointments online from April 17-23.
